Location: Johns Hopkins Hospital
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the lead technician and/or Histology Supervisor, prepares tissue samples for microscopic examination by a pathologist. The technician comprehends and adheres to standard operating procedures.
Upon completion of successful training within first 12 months, capable of:
1. Loading and unloading of processors
2. Embedding of routine tissue samples
3. Maintenance of tissue processors
4. Retrieving and filing of blocks and slides
5. Transportation of specimens and paperwork
6. Printing and or completing Histoweb worksheets
7. Quality Control documentation
8. Recognizes and reports problems and or discrepancies
9. Following safety procedures
10. Utilizes Histoweb / computer applications
11. Operates printers, stainer or coverslippers
12. Inventory / supply storage and management
13. Other related duties as assigned
