There are four (4) internship opportunities in the Engineering Department.
This recruitment is being conducted to fill four (4) vacancies and will establish an eligibility list which may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur during the active status of the eligibility list.
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Internships are limited to 25 hours week and 960 hours per fiscal year
(July 1st to June 30th)
Candidates with majors that match the current needs of the Engineering Department will be given preference for interviews. Preference will be given to current college students.
Note: Internship are not meant to be short term, for example, limited to summer, winter and/or spring breaks. Individuals interested in short term internships will not be considered.
Work schedule is estimated to be approximately 10 to 20 hours a week;
Office Hours are Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The successful candidate will be part of a team on various types of wastewater, recycled water, and energy projects. This position will provide the candidate with the opportunity to be involved with projects from design through construction, visit job sites, shadow project managers, assist in project budget tasks, and gain experience with working with design engineers, consultants, and contractors.
The ideal candidate will have Junior level standing with major course work in Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Management Technology, or another related discipline (civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical, or similar). The desired candidate will be a self-starting individual who is eager to assume responsibilities and has experience using CAD/GIS, advanced computer skills using Microsoft Suite, on-line and web-based research experience, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Intern staff work flexible hours as established by his/her respective supervisor. While the Agency is flexible and will strive to work around an intern's schedule, an intern's work hours will vary and be mutually agreeable between the intern and his/her supervisor. Timeliness and punctuality are key attributes of an ideal candidate.
