Job Description

Assists IP Department with the global distribution of API products while ensuring efficient operations of licensing including customer service, fulfillment, inventory management, and marketing. More specifically provides support regarding contracts, permissions and royalty agreements of the Segment & Standards Services Department with a focus on the Intellectual Property & Distribution. As a shared resource, supports segment objectives and GIS Division projects as needed.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Answers customer calls skillfully and effectively, documents and relays messages accurately and promptly, identifies urgent or priority calls, and respond within 24 hours.
  • Drafts written permission agreements and contracts
  • Maintains accurate/updated program records, lists, and files, and keeps readily available for budget analysis and reporting.
  • Registers existing API IP with the U.S. Copyright Office.
  • Assists with the aggregation and organization of various data reports for IP products.
  • Assists with watermarking documents for internal and external distribution.
  • Works with internal programs to post various API documents to an online platform.
  • When required, works with outsourcers to ensure accurate printed products are delivered in a timely manner, and quality-checks GIS/Publications marketing materials.
  • Assists with other self-supporting program operations in the Global Industry Services Department, as needed.

Key Relationships

  • Works with data aggregators to ensure compliant third-party IP use.
  • Works with external/internal customers on IP permission requests.

Qualifications

  • Requires 0-3 years of experience in a similar role and subject matter expertise.
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant area, or other related field equivalent work experience. Some positions may only require an Associates degree/technical diploma, or other related field equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent writing, creative problem solving, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Expertise in the issues specific to API is not required.
  • Degree in business discipline preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications especially Access, Excel, SharePoint, and Word.
  • Familiarity with databases, order fulfillment, customer service, inventory management, financial systems, and other management systems and tools.
  • Ability to research and assimilate information accurately from a variety of sources.
  • Ability to effectively manage simultaneous assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to follow instructions and adhere to program policies and procedures.
  • Customer service aptitude strongly.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to remain in a stationary position working on a computer
  • Move about the office to access office machinery, meeting rooms, etc. on occasion
  • Operate a computer and other office machinery such as printers and copy machines
  • Transport items and equipment up to 10 lbs. on occasion

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 25%

Percentage of travel time expected for the position, where the travel occurs, such as locally or in specific countries or states, and whether the travel is overnight.
