Overview

This position will be in support of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU)'s Center for Global Health Engagement (CGHE), which works to lead, integrate and synchronize the University's contributions to Department of Defense (DoD) global health engagement (GHE) and national security objectives by providing a hub for GHE thought leadership and knowledge, strategic communications and outreach, operational support, research, and capability integration of education, training and planning. HJF provides direct scientific, technical and programmatic support services to CGHE.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

HJF is seeking a Program Coordinator responsible for providing administrative and project management support to active CGHE programs and projects.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

    Works with Program and Project Managers to develop and monitor goals, timelines, and deliverables, and conduct follow-up for programs and projects across CGHE.
  • Monitors and responds to program and project inquiries and prepares correspondence.
  • Supports the Engagements team with planning and implementing domestic and international conferences, meetings, and events.
  • Supports the Training team with the administration of GHE courses and coordinates with subject matter experts on development of GHE training content, in both written and video formats.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for the role.

Physical Capabilities

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.
Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of project management principles, and good communications skills.
  • Ability to coordinate many complex projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently, using sound judgment to solve problems.
  • Must be able to set and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with organizational objectives and office automation.
  • Familiarity with global health and/or GHE concepts preferred.

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree required International relations/international affairs, public relations and communications degrees preferred.
  • Minimum of 0 - 2 years' experience required.
