Job Description

Job Summary
The Capital Planning Analyst provides support to the capital planning process through analysis and implementation of improvement opportunities. In addition, this role helps lead the compilation for the annual plan and monthly forecast processes. To be successful, one must establish a business partnership and effectively communicate with key stakeholders in the capital decision process.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities

  • Reviews and approves Authority for Expenditures (AFE) ensuring requests are consistent with the approved capital plan or current allocation
  • Reviews and analyzes support for request capital adjustments, provide feedback or questions to Finance business partners, and update the capital portfolio with monthly adjustments
  • Assists in coordinating the monthly capital planning process, including scheduling monthly meetings and sending out timelines to Finance
  • Assists in coordinating s the annual capital planning process, including scheduling annual meetings, ensuring process stays on track and key milestones are met
  • Compilation of executive presentation materials for monthly and annual Capital Committee meetings and Board presentations as requested by the CFO
  • Develop a positive working relationship with all business partners in Operations, Sales & Marketing, Finance, and Technology
  • Provide training in using and understanding the capital reporting system
  • Work autonomously in an individual contributor role. Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
  • At least 1 year of experience in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Economics, Statistics, or Business Analytics focused on financial and economic analysis

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate Degree
  • 3 or more years of experience in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Economics, Statistics, or Business Analytics focused on financial and economic analysis

Knowledge and Skills

  • Microsoft Office Skills (especially in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Analytical, quantitative, and problem solving skills
  • Written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to understand and develop financial models and processes
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build working relationships at all levels of an organization
  • Ability to design and deliver presentations for various audiences
  • Ability to do independent research
  • Growth mindset and creative thinking skills
  • Knowledge of financial concepts, discounted cash flow models, and statistical analysis
