Under direct supervision of the registered nurse provides direct patient care to assigned patients.
Education |
Knowledge of nursing theory and practice acquired through an accredited school of nursing. |
Experience |
One year acute care experience preferred |
Skills |
* Interpersonal skills, communication (verbal and written) are required in order to instruct and comfort patients and their families and maintain effective contacts with a variety of hospital personnel and maintain appropriate/adequate documentation. * Ability to perform and plan professional nursing care resolving complex patient care problems and dealing with patients and their families often during stressful situations. |
Licensures, Certifications |
* Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses as a Licensed Practical Nurse. * Healthcare Provider (CPR Certification) - not required for Hospice employee. |
Physical Requirements |
* Ability to stand and walk almost constantly (up to 90% of work time) and occasionally (up to 50% of work time) lifting and positioning patients. |
Working Conditions |
* Normal patient care environment with exposure to excessive noise, dust, and temperature. * Possibly exposed to adverse working conditions due to performance of patient care activities and exposure to communicable diseases. |
