Job Description

The Building People, LLC, has an immediate opening for a Senior (facility-related control systems) FRCS Subject Matter (SME) - DoD. The SME will join our experienced and growing smart buildings team which touches all markets but will be specifically aligned to the Department of Defense (DoD) market. The SME will be responsible for advising a DoD client to operate, manage, and maintain the current IT infrastructure across numerous platforms, as well as assist in defining requirements for future upgrades and enhancements based on operational and customer needs. For this position it is imperative that the candidate have experience and expertise in managing large IT projects in the DoD market and must possess experience in facilitating Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements and procedures among other requirements/certifications below. This individual will work with the Program Manager as the senior support to the client. This position is located in the Arlington VA area and requires a Top Secret (DoD) clearance.


Required Experience & Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work with a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Senior level knowledge, and experience with, network management, particularly in the building automation space
  • Serve as knowledge expert of all security related aspects of the FRCS computing environment.
  • This SME should have proven experience implementing and maintaining security postures within complex network architectures
  • This SME must have knowledge of DoD infrastructures, certification and accreditation (C&A), physical and personnel security concepts
  • Proficient knowledge of DoDI 8510.01
  • At least five (5) years direct experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and shepherding new technology requirements through the Authority to Operate (ATO) process
  • Documented previous experience in Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA), DoD IG Inspection or other accreditation and certification programs.
  • At least five (5) years of experience/knowledge of the DoD Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) programs.
  • At least five (5) years of experience with Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) and Host Based Security System (HBSS) architectures
  • At least five (5) years of experience developing appropriate security policies, and perform periodic upgrades, updates to servers, and network devices to ensure appropriate secured access to data.
  • At least five (5) years of experience maintaining a System Security Authorization Agreement (SSAA) previously
  • At least five (5) years of experience in Incident Response, Auditing, and CNDSP.
  • At least fifteen (15) years experience in leading the support and maintenance of large IT systems for DoD clients

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Experience working in federal and DoD facilities
  • Familiarity with major building systems
  • Experience with facility-related control systems (FRCS)
  • Certification(s): CISSP, CISM, CISA, CAP, IEM/IAM, ISSO, GICSP, etc

Required Education

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum DoD 8570 IAM Level III Certification required
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or DAU Level III PM and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) foundation certification

Place of Performance & Travel

  • This is an onsite position with the client in the Arlington VA area

Background Investigation

  • Top Secret (DoD) Clearance Required
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to elevate a Top Secret Clearance will be considered

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at times
