Job Description

The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time Move Manager with an active Top Secret Clearance. The Move Manager will support number of small to large move projects in and between the agency's National Capital Region facilities. The Move Manager will be responsible for coordination of all move project activities, communication with the client, the internal stakeholder (project managers, etc.), and the service providers (IT, movers, security, telephones, etc.). The Move Manager will manage both project schedule and budget. All projects will be located within in the National Capital Region.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage all facets of project management (budget, schedule, procurement, quality & risk) for relocation projects including planning, coordination, moving, punch list, and closeout.
  • Interface directly with clients to define move project requirements.
  • Prepare scope of work, move project delivery resource requirements, cost estimate & budget, work plan schedule & milestones, quality control, and risk identification.
  • Implement communication plan for meetings and written reports/meeting minutes to keep client and move project resources informed.
  • Prepare, lead, and facilitate move project and client meetings.
  • Implement change management routines to assess change requests, make recommendations, secure client approvals, and issue change orders.
  • Assess change requests to determine impacts to scope, budget, schedule, quality, and risk.
  • Identify move project risks, develop risk mitigation and contingency plans, and implement action plans to reduce or eliminate move project risks.

Qualifications and Education Required:

  • Active Top Secret (TS) Clearance.
  • Minimum five (5) years of project/construction management.
  • Experience with relocation management, space management & planning, furniture management, and construction management.
  • Ability to regularly communicate analyzed data to client and team to achieve project goals.
  • Strong working knowledge of architectural drawings and furniture and space planning concepts.
  • Highly organized with strong analytical skills.
  • Possess excellent communication and oral skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with executive level external and internal clients as well as external team members (project managers, movers, IT staff, client's representatives, etc.).
  • Ability to manage all aspects of construction projects effectively and efficiently including, but not limited to budgeting, scheduling, submittals, change orders.
  • Fully competent at managing all types/sizes of projects.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Projects, as well as other scheduling and project management software.
  • Proficiency in MS Project, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Word and project management software.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently, while a part of a greater team.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Projects may require work after hours and weekends.

The following skills/experience/qualifications are preferred for this role:

  • Preferred certifications: PMP
  • Self-Motivated, excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS/BEng/BArch) from College or University in a technical area of study.
